Went to the doctor today,

Checked out "Great," or so they say...

If they could only see inside

Where mind, heart, and soul abide,

They'd check me in, lock the door,

Proclaim I'm sick to the core:

Look! Her heart...has come apart!

Her mind, we...can't seem to find!

And her soul...is full of holes!

Grief's invisible you see --

(All's not well...

in this living hell...)

And then I'd hear them say,

"Just lock her up.

Then throw the keys away!

...But went to the doctor today,

Checked out "Great,"

Or so they say...

Why are you downcast,

O my soul?

Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God,

for I will yet praise Him,

my Savior and my God,

My soul is downcast within me;

therefore I will remember You....

Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls;

By day the Lord directs His love,

at night His song is with me--

a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God my Rock,

"Why have You forsaken me?

Why must I go about mourning,

oppressed by the enemy?"

My bones suffer mortal agony

"Where is your God?"
