Wednesday's Woe
Do People Not Know?!
I run from
the shadows and sounds
But sometimes I find the courage
within me
to explore the darkness
And
there I
find
myself
~Manuel Dawson Grade 5
*****
Trying to explain to a family member how I am not the same after my child-loss grief, I said,
"I am handicapped!"
The relative coldly and begrudgingly said,
"Well... I'll have to take your word for it; I wouldn't know..."
Compassionate, huh? I later said to my husband,
"How can people not know we've been thrown into hell?"
I simply said to my relative,
"It's hell...!"
*****
Do People Not Know?!
Do people not know
How hard this grief is?
Do they think it will go,
And we'll return to bliss?
Our whole world has changed;
Every item has been touched.
At times, we feel deranged
Or ripped out by our guts.
How could we be the same
With hell thrown in our lap?
Our spirits oft feel lame,
Our hearts have such a gap.
Do people not know?
To grief, are they that blind?
Face to face with Vile Foe,
On our hearts, he dined,
And left behind... only the rind.
Please, people, don't be so blind!
