The body speaks. Will we listen
As holidays near and parties beckon?
Grief's tsunami takes its toll ~
Loving on people is our goal,
But who are we now, and how will we function
When our "New Normal" issues its injunction?
Our loved ones may not understand
When our hearts don't heel to their ev'ry command,
But we must be mindful our hearts are crushed
And can't always hearken to the season's rush.
Our beloved child is deceased;
Our nurture for them must be unleashed
Onto our own grieving hearts and souls,
Now riddled with death's devastating holes.
The resilience that once had been there
Is now recused for our own soul's care...
Lest we go to the cupboard and find it bare.
The body speaks. Will we listen
Midst holiday tinsel, as our teardrops glisten?
