Today, I discovered that John Piper had included William Blake's wonderful poem, "Little Lamb, Who Made Thee?" in today's blog post:

William Blake was born yesterday, 1757. One of his most famous poems is one of my favorites. It’s a good launch into Advent.

Little Lamb, who made thee?

Dost thou know who made thee?

Gave thee life, and bid thee feed,

By the stream and o’er the mead;

Gave thee clothing of delight,

Softest clothing, woolly, bright;

Gave thee such a tender voice,

Making all the vales rejoice?

Little Lamb, who made thee?

He is called by thy name, 


For He calls Himself a Lamb.

Thank you for reminding us of William Blake's wonderful poem; it is one of my favorites. 3 years ago, I lost my 19-year-old daughter; ever since, my Lord has led me to process through the immense grief by writing poetry. After discovering William Blake's poem, I wrote a sequel to it. I would love to share it with you and your readers:

Little Lamb, who saved thee?

19 Good Things about My Child Being with God

1.) She now has a right to the tree of life and is allowed go through the gates of pearl into the City of God.

2.) She is dressed in a robe of white that has been washed in the blood of the Lamb.

3.) She is cradled in her Savior’s arms because her name is written in the Lamb’s book of life.

4.) She can praise her Lord face-to-face. There is no church in the City because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are her church.

5.) She is at perfect peace. When she is thirsty, God gives her drinks from the spring of the water of life.

6.) She is released from her pain; there is no more of the curse that was on earth.

7.) She walks on streets of pure gold, transparent as glass and sees the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, down the middle of the great street of the City. On each side of the river, she sees the tree of life, yielding its fruit routinely.

8.) She is free from all sin forever. She no longer can be hurt by sin. She no longer can be enslaved by sin as nothing impure is allowed to enter Heaven. With all sin fallen off, her spirit is free to soar.

9.) She feels closer to me now, no longer encumbered by sin on her beautiful heart and spirit.

10.) She is pulling for us from Heaven as she is now a part of the great cloud of witnesses who surround us.

11.) She sees and knows Him even as she is known.

12.) All things are made clear to her; things make sense.

13.) She can see beyond our present grief.

14.) She is freed from human limitations.

15.) She has zero worries.

16.) She is in God’s presence all day long.

17.) She has no darkness—God and Jesus provide light always.

18.) Resting in God’s love, she loves us uninhibitedly from Heaven.

19.) She will not be hurt by the second death; she lives with God forever!
