Tuesday's Trust - God Hears Our Heart's Cry

Tuesday's Trust

God Hears Our Heart's Cry

When the ache is deep and the words won't come...

God hears our heart's cry. He does our praying in and for us making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.

~~~
26
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness;
 for we do not know how to pray as we should,
but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us
with groanings too deep for words;
The Holy Bible
Friday's Faith - Prayer for the New Year
Friday's Faith
Prayer for the New Year
~revgalblogpals.blogspot.com
Holy One,
We thank you for coming into our world as a baby bringing your love, and your joy into the world.
It seems like just a short time ago we were celebrating his birth
 and now we are taking a peek into the New Year.
We have no idea what the New Year is to bring;
and at the same time some of us are setting goals and making resolutions.
Lord, we pray for a good year for all, we pray that we all may grow in your wisdom.
We pray that all grow in your grace with you and with each other.
Lord our world could use more people who are wise and have grace with you.
 But often Lord we don’t know how to grow in wisdom and in grace with you so we pray you would clothe us in your wisdom;
......with your love which brings perfect harmony to the disorder of our
...........lives.
......with your compassion that brings calmness and soothes the anger
...........in us.
......with your kindness that is a balm to our pain.
......with your humility that allows the ire of pride to settle down to join
...........and collaborate with others.
......with your meekness that stops the wars and bleeding.
......with your patience that keeps us from impulsively giving into our
...........urges.
......with the ability to bear with one another instead of turning our backs
...........on each other.
......with your forgiveness that we can forgive others as you forgive us.
......in your peace so that we could live in peace with one another.
......in gratitude that we would praise you and thank you with grateful
...........heart.
Lord,
We pray for comfort those who have had deaths during this season
......or facing painful and sad memories and anniversaries of loved ones.
We pray for healing for those who are ill, struggling with failing health,
......and whose loved ones are sick.
We pray for restoration for those who have been affected by tornados, hurricanes
......and other forms of natural disaster.
We pray that violence would end and that your peace, love and joy may reign.
Amen
Wednesday's Woe - Missing My Mom and My Daughter
Wednesday's Woe
Missing My Mom and My Daughter
Today has been such a sad day for me, missing both my mother and my daughter.
My mother, also a child-loss mom, having lost my oldest brother to cancer when he was only 38 years old, was so adept at understanding my painful grief over Merry Katherine. I was so blessed to have her live to the age of 97 years old, able to live in her own home (the home I grew up in), sleeping in her own bed until her death. We had such sweet times together on my visits home, whether we were crying together over grief, or laughing together over one another's antics, it was all so precious. And to be able to be nurtured by her so sweetly even as I was getting the privilege of nurturing her creates such warm places in my heart even today.
Just a few months before her death, on one visit home, she taught me a prayer I had never heard in all my years with her. In and out of her dementia, one night she just rattled off this beautifully sweet prayer that just captures the gentle love of Jesus for us, His tender lambs. I was stunned to hear her so articulately remembering every word of this very poignant prayer.
When I later looked it up on the internet, I saw that it was a very old Methodist prayer and realized she was just a little girl when she first learned this prayer she had kept in her heart for a lifetime. One internet site showed that between the years of 1893 and 1923, there was a song with the words of this prayer that was found in 2 % of the hymnals in those days! (My grandmother, "MaMa" was 6 years old when the prayer first appeared in hymnals; she was born in 1887---100 years before Merry Katherine was born. MaMa lived long enough to see Merry Katherine, then died just four months later. My mother was born in 1913, so the prayer/song was available in hymnals for the first ten years of her life!) Evidently, Mother's special prayer was included in a collection of songs prepared especially for the primary and infant departments of the Sunday School, starting in 1893.
And in all my years with her, to think I had never even heard her speak of this wonderful little prayer! I am the youngest of six children; evidently she taught it to the first four children, then taught my brother and me a completely different prayer in our early days of childhood. She took great joy in teaching it to me in her latter days (at the age of 97!), repeating it word for word until I got it down accurately on paper. It was amazing to me.
When she first said the prayer, her helper and I were holding hands with her as we prayed, and when I heard the words, I cried. (Her words could be understood in two ways, the way she had been taught it as a child, but also as words that would be looking to God's Ultimate Morning Light where she would soon be headed, and I, of course, was wanting to hold onto her here for as long as I could, so the tears just poured.) Here is the prayer that she said that night, and you will see it again, incorporated into the prayers I wrote early this morning...
Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, hear me;
Bless Thy little lamb tonight.
Thro' the darkness be Thou near me;
Keep me safe till morning light.
Thinking of Mother...
Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, hear me;
Bless Thy little lamb tonight.
Thro' the darkness be Thou near me;
Keep me safe till morning light.
Treasured moments with Mom I had,
Treasured moments kept out the bad...
Now my Father, she's in Your arms,
Kept safe in You with no alarms.
Will You both hold me in Your arms?
World's greatest Love, all Darkness disarms.
Thinking of Merry Katherine...
6 years now, you've been with Jesus;
Can you tell me what that's like?
Here on earth, we know He's with us,
Replacing Darkness with His Light.
6 years now, you've been with Love,
No sin nor sadness hanging on;
Lightness surrounds like clouds above,
Yielding peace like Heaven's Dawn.
I too long to be with Jesus,
Held in His arms, He gently greets us...
All is sweet, our sadness gone...
Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, hear me;
Bless Thy little lamb tonight.
Thro' the darkness be Thou near me;
Keep me safe till morning light.
Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, hear me:
Hold my little lamb tonight.
In my heart please keep her near me;
Hold us close till Morning's Light!
Thinking of Mother, Merry Katherine, and me...
Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, hear me:
Bless Thy little lambs tonight...
Thro' the darkness be Thou near us;
Keep us close till Morning's Light!
Wednesday's Woe - Sitting in the Waiting Room...
Wednesday's Woe
Sitting in the Waiting Room...
Having lost my only daughter, my 19-year-old, to death 5 years and 5 months ago, I am still full of grief even as I escort my oldest child, my son, now 29-years-old, to the doctor for scans after his receiving yesterday's diagnosis of cancer... And this after his daddy, my husband Tommy, was diagnosed with cancer only a few months ago...
Sitting in the waiting room,
Another child is at risk...
Avoiding any sense of doom,
Though icy fear seeks to frisk.
Sitting in the waiting room
While my son's being scanned
For degree of cancer's doom...
While I pray for God's healing hand.
(How did life turn out this way
Despite a mom's best plans?
God works in a mysterious way
Amidst a mom's demands.)
Sitting in the waiting room,
Another child vulnerable...
Praying away any sense of doom,
My heart with grief still full...
Is life one big waiting room
Where we dread the next call of doom?
Thankful God's overcome Death's call,
I fight this mom's need to bawl...
Monday's Mourning Ministry - You Wouldn't Cry for Me ~Mandisa
Monday's Mourning Ministry
You Wouldn't Cry for Me
~Mandisa
All you saw was pain, all you saw was rain
But you should see me now
Moments filled with tears, lasted all those years
Disappeared somehow
You never said goodbye
On your knees you cry
You're still asking why
But blue has never been bluer, true has never been truer
Honey never tasted so sweet there's a song in the breeze
A million voices in praise
A rose has never smelled redder, the sun has never been brighter
If I could find the right words to say, if you could look at my face
If you could just see this place you wouldn't cry for me today
What you think you see, isn't really me
I'm already home
You've got to lay it down 'cause Jesus holds me now
And I am not alone
Your faith is wearing thin
But I am watching Him
And He is holding you too
And blue has never been bluer, true has never been truer
Honey never tasted so sweet there's a song in the breeze
A million voices in praise
A rose has never smelled redder, the sun has never been brighter
If I could find the right words to say, if you could look at my face
If you could just see this place you wouldn't cry for me today
You wouldn't cry for me today
What may seem like years will just be a moment
Oh, the day will come when I'll show you where you're going
I can't wait to show you
And blue has never been bluer, true has never been truer
Honey never tasted so sweet there's a song in the breeze
A million voices in praise
A rose has never smelled redder, the sun has never been brighter
If I could find the right words to say, if you could look at my face
If you could just see this place you wouldn't cry for me today
You wouldn't cry for me today
You wouldn't cry for me today
You wouldn't cry for me today
You wouldn't cry for me to
day
He heals the broken hearted and bandages their wounds.
~Psalm 147: 3
Lord, I claim this promise for all those with broken pieces and pain right now. Bandage those wounds that can only be healed by the touch of your hand. Amen.
Friday's Faith - Can "Faith Street Bridge" Be Rebuilt Without Closing It Down? ~by Tommy Prince
Friday's Faith
Can "Faith Street Bridge"
Be Rebuilt
Without
Closing It Down?
~by Tommy Prince
My faith is being totally reconstructed right after I have gone through the worst crisis of a parent's life. What a time to have to rebuild and start all over.
At the time when I most need God, the Bridge is DOWN???
Do I totally shut it down?
Do I leave one lane open?
CAN I leave one lane open?
I trusted Someone who I felt totally let me down, and now I'm to leave one lane OPEN??? How is that even to be done?
When you pray diligently for your child's safety, and the Answer is... She Got Killed???!!!
NOW what do you do?
My faith has to be totally reconstructed.
Can I do this without everything crashing down and me falling off?
The Henley Street Bridge is an old bridge that is a major thoroughfare in our city of Knoxville, yet it is, right at this moment, totally closed down for major reconstruction. There is no possibility for one lane to be open. So for months and even years, this major thoroughfare will be shut down. The conservative estimate for reconstruction is TWO YEARS.
So, in facing a Major Reconstruction of my faith, I have had to close down my life to many things so that the major reconstruction can take place.
Can I trust that God will find a way to meet me when all roads have been shut off?
Tuesday's Trust - Greater is HE than the Damage in Me... ~Tommy and Angie Prince
{Johnson wildfire in an aspen grove on the Fishlake National Forest in southern Utah}
Tuesday's Trust
Greater is HE than the Damage in Me...
~Tommy and Angie Prince
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
~1 John 4:4
Greater is HE than the Damage in Me...
Though Satan looks like he's won,
You've only just begun.
My Kingdom's not built in a day...
He will not have the last say.
My work is oft done in deepest darkness,
Where Satan lurks and seeks to oppress.
Sufferings, deaths, persecutions will test.
You will oft feel stuck in th' wilderness.
Remember, many seeds grow in darkness,
So dark, no growth can you assess.
But My best work Satan will contest...
New life will spring up despite pain's weariness.
The damage in you will produce life for Me
E'en when you feel defeated by the Vile Enemy!
Just trust Me to do My work in you;
I often use sufferings to grow you too.
Do not despair. Do not lose hope.
I'll be with you. I'll help you cope.
It is by faith not by sight My work is done:
Though your works seem in vain, they'll be seeds sown...
Never doubt. By faith, what is sown in darkness grows ~
What is done by faith is completed by Light shown from Me,
And I will water and nurture so My grace bestows
Life to what once seemed Death from Vile Enemy.
The damage in you produces life for Me
E'en when you feel defeated by the Vile Enemy,
For just as I gave life --amidst death-- to your baby girl,
Remember,
"Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world!"
It is this sense of being damaged, rather than the immediate horror of the trauma, that many victims describe as the worst aspect of their ordeal in the long-term.
~Bessel A. van der Kolk, Traumatic Stress
This is what the Lord says:
"In the time of My favor I will answer you,
and in the day of salvation
I will help you."
Isaiah 49:8a
For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that His life may be revealed in our mortal body.
~2 Corinthians 4:11
Not only is the outcome of our progression in the kingdom not under our control, but we are not told in any systematic way how do do our part in the process. This is because the process is to be a walk with a Person. But it is also because what is needed is very much an individual matter, a response to the particular needs of individual disciples.
~Dallas Willard, Divine Conspiracy
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
~Romans 5:2b-5
{Aspen sprouting in an area in the Johnson wildfire, two years after the fire (2006), Fishlake National Forest, Utah}
We are pressed on every side by troubles but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God.We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed . . . That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
~2 Corinthians 4:8-9,16
And I close with a prayer for you from Jesus as imagined by Nancy Guthrie, Hearing Jesus Speak into Your Sorrow
...I hear you prayers, asking for your path to be smooth and asking the Father to bless your plans with success. But I have to tell you, that is not how I am praying for you. I love you too much for that. I am praying that when your plans go awry and your efforts fail, your faith will not. I am asking the Father to give you the good gift you have asked Him for--more of My Holy Spirit at work in the interior of your life and character.
I am praying that you will walk in the truth and complete the work that has been entrusted to you--not so you can revel in the glory, but so you can experience the joy of giving the glory back to Me. I am praying that the truth of My Word will teach you and refine you, even though that refining may be painful, because I know your greatest happiness will come as you become holy as I am holy.
The day is coming when you will see and share in the glory I have shared with My Father since before Creation. I'm praying that God will purify you and protect you until that coming Day.
Monday's Mourning Ministry - In My Daughter's Eyes ~Martina McBride / Your Eyes...
Monday's Mourning Ministry
In My Daughter's Eyes
BoldMartina McBride
and
Your Eyes...
Newborn baby—first time I get to see,
I look down to see you are looking up at me.
The first thing I notice, as to me I see them rise,
Are your stunning, beautiful eyes…
Crystal clear green eyes—
Looking at me on another day,
Two days before your death...
And I could hear you gently say,
Mommy, you taught us our values;
Now you have to let us find our way…
You were 19; I had no right to make you stay…
But my heart agonized over decisions you might make
As I silently lifted my eyes to pray,
Father, there’s no safe place for her here!
I did agonizingly pray…
You couldn’t heed my words,
But God could hear me pray…
Now He lovingly reminds me He will keep you safe ~
For your crystal clear green eyes look into His each day…
In My Daughter's Eyes
Martina McBride
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daugter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you'll see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
