Tuesday's Trust - The Things Not Seen…

Tuesday's Trust

The Things Not Seen…

"The things which are not seen."
2 Corinthians 4:18

In our Christian pilgrimage it is well, for the most part, to be looking forward. Forward lies the crown, and onward is the goal. Whether it be for hope, for joy, for consolation, or for the inspiring of our love, the future must, after all, be the grand object of the eye of faith.

Looking into the future we see

  • Sin cast out,
  • The body of sin and death destroyed,
  • The soul made perfect, and fit to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. Looking further yet, the believer's enlightened eye can see
  • Death's river passed,
  • The gloomy stream forded, and
  • The hills of light attained on which standeth the celestial City; he seeth himself
  • Enter within the pearly gates,
  • Hailed as more than conqueror,
  • Crowned by the hand of Christ,
  • Embraced in the arms of Jesus,
  • Glorified with Him, and
  • Made to sit together with him on his throne, even as He has overcome and has sat down with the Father on his throne.
  • The thought of this future may well relieve the darkness of the past and the gloom of the present.
  • The joys of Heaven will surely compensate for the sorrows of earth. Hush, hush, my doubts! death is but a narrow stream, and thou shalt soon have forded it.
  • Time, how short--eternity, how long!
  • Death, how brief--Immortality, how endless! Methinks I even now eat of Eshcol's clusters, and sip of the well which is within the gate. The road is so, so short! I shall soon be there.

"When the world my heart is rending

With its heaviest storm of care,

My glad thoughts to Heaven ascending,

Find a refuge from despair.

Faith's bright vision shall sustain me

Till life's pilgrimage is past;

Fears may vex and troubles pain me,

I shall reach my home at last."

- Grief Credo -

I believe grief is a process that involves a lot of time, energy and determination.

I won't "get over it" in a hurry, so don't rush me!

I believe grief is intensely personal.

This is my grief. Don't tell me how I should be doing it.

Don't tell me what's right or what's wrong.

I'm doing it my way, in my time.

I believe grief is affecting me in many ways.

I am being affected spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially and mentally.

If I'm not acting like my old self,
it's because I'm not my old self and
some days even I don't understand myself.

I believe I will be affected in some way by this loss for the rest of my life.

As I get older, I will have new insights into what this death means to me.

My loved one will continue to be part of my life
and influence me until the day I die.

I believe I am being changed by this process. I see life differently.

Some things that were once important to me aren't any more.

Some things I used to pay little or no attention to are now important.

I think a new me is emerging, so don't be surprised - and don't stand in the way.

Letter from Heaven

When tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not here to see,
if the sun should rise and find your
eyes, filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn't cry,
the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things
we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me
as much as I love you,
and each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I'm right there in your heart.

"The voice of weeping shall be no more heard."
Isaiah 65:19

  • The glorified weep no more, for all outward causes of grief are gone.
  • There are no broken friendships, nor blighted prospects in heaven.
  • Poverty, famine, peril, persecution, and slander, are unknown there.
  • No pain distresses, no thought of death or bereavement saddens.
  • They weep no more, for they are perfectly sanctified.
  • No "...heart of unbelief" prompts them to depart from the living God;
  • They are without fault before his throne, and
  • (They) are fully conformed to his image.
  • Well may they cease to mourn who have ceased to sin.
  • They weep no more, because all fear of change is past.
  • They know that they are eternally secure.
  • Sin is shut out, and they are shut in.
  • They dwell within a city which shall never be stormed;
  • They bask in a sun which shall never set;
  • They drink of a river which shall never dry;
  • They pluck fruit from a tree which shall never wither.
  • Countless cycles may revolve, but eternity shall not be exhausted, and
  • While eternity endures, their immortality and blessedness shall co-exist with it.
  • They are forever with the Lord.
  • They weep no more, because every desire is fulfilled.
  • They cannot wish for anything which they have not in possession.
  • Eye and ear, heart and hand, judgment, imagination, hope, desire, will, all the faculties, are completely satisfied; and
  • Imperfect as our present ideas are of the things which God hath prepared for them that love him, yet we know enough, by the revelation of the Spirit, that the saints above are supremely blessed.
  • The joy of Christ, which is an infinite fulness of delight, is in them.
  • They bathe themselves in the bottomless, shoreless sea of infinite beatitude. That same joyful rest remains for us. It may not be far distant. Ere long the weeping willow shall be exchanged for the palm-branch of victory, and sorrow's dewdrops will be transformed into the pearls of everlasting bliss.

"Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Always Love You

~Nicole C. Mullen

Tell me if you break the hourglass

Can you hold to what you have

Can you make the moment last?

Tell me if you give away your heart

And then life tears you apart

Is it the end or just the start?

Well no matter how far you go

I will always love you

Like a thousand rivers from my soul

I will always love you

I miss you and the funny things you say

I remember everyday

in a hundred different ways

And I miss you being here with me

and though you've been set free

I'll hold you in my memory

And no matter how far you go

I will always love you

Like a thousand rivers from my soul

I will always love you

No body is too wide

I love you

Across the great divide

And if soul to the skies above

Or conquer the earth below

There's one thing I want you to know

I want you to know

Is no matter how far you go

I will always love you

Like a thousand (thousand rivers) rivers from my ((yes, I'm gonna love you love you) soul

I will always love you (I'm gonna keep on loving you)

And no matter (no matter how far) how far you go (no matter how far)

I will always (I'm gonna keep loving, keep loving you forever) love you

Like a (ever and ever) thousand rivers from my soul

I will always love you-oo-oo-ou

Yeah, uh-huh, o baby

I'll love you.

Friday's Faith - Not Worthy to Be Compared... / Poem - What Is Beyond Compare...

Friday's Faith

Not Worthy to Be Compared...

~

Poem - What Is Beyond Compare...

This week, I was in a terrible funk when I read the following devotional by the late Amy Carmichael, missionary for many years to India. The devotional truths lifted my sunken spirits and inspired me to write the poem that follows:

Romans 8:18 Not worthy to be compared.

Settle this in your minds so that you will not have to settle it again; there is no promise of ease for any soldier on any field. Search the New Testament; you will not find one such promise. It is made quite clear that things are not going to be made easy. So to be surprised and troubled when they are difficult is foolish and unreasonable too. Why is there so much inward stress, sometimes sharp trial, or what the New Testament calls Tribulation? We are not told; but we are told that there will be this sort of thing, and that it is "not worthy to be compared with the glory" ---not worthy to be compared.

~Amy Carmichael

What Is Beyond Compare...

I'm not told why my child

Was caught in Lion's snare,

Nor am I told just why I've

Been thrown in Lion's lair.

I am told...

"They're not worthy to be compared...!"

But By Faith, I'm called to see

What is beyond compare...

That which is kept for me

Within my Father's care!

I catch a glimpse into the skies

And see my child smiling there,

Look into my Lord's loving eyes,

And know what's beyond compare...

So today, I'll bear my cross,

Suff'ring terrible loss,

Crying out my heart's prayer

Till I'm held in His arms There...

I'm not told why my child

Was caught in Lion's snare,

Nor am I told just why I've

Been thrown in Lion's lair.

But I am told...

"They're not worthy to be compared...!"

Wednesday's Woe - When Death Cuts Like a Knife

Wednesday's Woe

When Death Cuts Like a Knife

Since God saved you baby, you might wonder,

"If you know I'm happy, why are you sad?"

As surely as lightning's followed by thunder,

losing you baby still hurts Mommy so bad...

Love invested in you doesn't just stop...

Who would think 125 pounds

missing from this earth would make our hearts drop

and unleash in us the child-seeking hounds?

Th' hounds are relentless, ready to attack

any clueless person who doesn't "get it"–

Th' hounds won't settle down until you get back,

ever restless, no matter how much they're petted.

When God said, "Love Me with heart, mind, soul, strength,"

we didn't question His ways nor His command.

His love for us would go to any length,

so of course our love for Him should so demand.

So too, Baby, ev'ry morsel of strength,

heart, soul, and mind corraled to love you...

They wouldn't stop just because you blinked.

They merely regroup to find you anew.

So imagine my joy when God sends a glimpse

of your smiling face looking down at me–

It then doesn't matter we walk with limps

in grief, for your spirit hovers o'er me!

So be patient with Mommy and Daddy

trying t' adjust to a new way of life.

God comforts as our hearts suffer sadly

with glimpses of Heav'n when death cuts like a knife.
