Friday's Faith - Not Worthy to Be Compared... / Poem - What Is Beyond Compare...

Friday's Faith

Not Worthy to Be Compared...

~

Poem - What Is Beyond Compare...

This week, I was in a terrible funk when I read the following devotional by the late Amy Carmichael, missionary for many years to India. The devotional truths lifted my sunken spirits and inspired me to write the poem that follows:

Romans 8:18 Not worthy to be compared.

Settle this in your minds so that you will not have to settle it again; there is no promise of ease for any soldier on any field. Search the New Testament; you will not find one such promise. It is made quite clear that things are not going to be made easy. So to be surprised and troubled when they are difficult is foolish and unreasonable too. Why is there so much inward stress, sometimes sharp trial, or what the New Testament calls Tribulation? We are not told; but we are told that there will be this sort of thing, and that it is "not worthy to be compared with the glory" ---not worthy to be compared.

What Is Beyond Compare...

I'm not told why my child

Was caught in Lion's snare,

Nor am I told just why I've

Been thrown in Lion's lair.

I am told...

"They're not worthy to be compared...!"

But By Faith, I'm called to see

What is beyond compare...

That which is kept for me

Within my Father's care!

I catch a glimpse into the skies

And see my child smiling there,

Look into my Lord's loving eyes,

And know what's beyond compare...

So today, I'll bear my cross,

Suff'ring terrible loss,

Crying out my heart's prayer

Till I'm held in His arms There...

I'm not told why my child

Was caught in Lion's snare,

Nor am I told just why I've

Been thrown in Lion's lair.

But I am told...

"They're not worthy to be compared...!"

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
