Tuesday's Trust - Happy Valentine's Day, Baby Girl: God's Love Is Perfect, But It Can Hurt...

Tuesday's Trust

Happy Valentine's Day, Baby Girl:

God's Love Is Perfect, But It Can Hurt...

My heart is broken; I want to cry

My baby girl was taken, had to die...

Baby girl, I miss you, my heart's not the same;

It's tarnished, pulverized, and by death maimed.

And yet you're in Heaven with Love Himself

Singing with the angels, not set aside on a shelf.

You're with the Creator of all that's creative;

He laughs with you at all that you're surely instigating.

Set free from human limits, you are free to fly;

Yet, how does it feel when you see Mommy cry?

You can witness everything in our lives,

You pull for us, wanting us to help you win your prize.

Because you live with God, you see the bigger plan;

You realize even death is used by God's loving hand.

Since the whole is much greater than all the parts' sum,

The mysterious "dying of the wheat" is part of Love's plan

To accomplish greater things in His Kingdom

Than our getting our own way ever can.

It's bigger than anything e'er conceived in the mere mind of man.

So pull for us to keep our eyes on God's prize,

And as we cry our tears, not let them blur or compromise

Our faithfulness to God as He walks with us on Grief's Way,

Ever learning to trust, though our mothering hearts are slain...

God has a better way: He brings Victory out of our pain.

So say a prayer for us tonight on this Valentine's Day

That we will strong and faithful be, as Love carves out His way...

My heart is broken; I want to cry;

My baby girl was taken, had to die.

Baby girl, I miss you, my heart's not the same,

Yet I know your life was saved because the Savior came...

Take this grain of wheat Lord, and let it fall,

Crush it and mutilate it, then use it amidst Death's pall,

Knowing You have a bigger plan for us, I surrender all.

On this Valentine's Day, Lord help me to remember,

You gave Your only begotten Son when You so loved the world,

Yet the last thing Your Son saw, He was dying, nailed to timber...

There's a much bigger picture than Death taking our baby girl...

As Love will have the final say when the final Day unfurls...

Christ's sufferings and death predicted by Himself:

Jesus replied,

"The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves Me must follow Me, and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me.

"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your name!'"

~John 12:23-28a

In God's Holy Word, the great heroes of the faith are described in this way...

"Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, perecuted and mistreated-- the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

~Hebrews 11:35a-40

Love has the final word:

"And then the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever...

"Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire...

"Then I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,

"'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'

"He who was seated on the throne said,

"' I am making everything new!'"

~Revelation 20:10, 14a, 21:1-5a

Friday's Faith - Collective Wail

Friday's Faith

Collective Wail

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him."

When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written:

But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship Him."

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill Him.'"

So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called My Son."

When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi...

~Matthew 2:1-16 NIV

Collective Wail

Even at birth, the king wanted His head

the night he ordered all Bethlehem's firstborn males dead.

Grieving mothers throughout the land

wept for their children, refusing comfort.

A grievous sound rose up through the land

When mothers cried out as their hearts did contort.

Jesus' life was saved that one dark night

while Mary's heart must have been filled with fright...

But You, O Lord, knew His day was to come.....

Did You grieve like me when Your will was done?

...A sound was heard in Ramah

weeping and much lament.

Rachel weeping for her children,

Rachel refusing all solace,

Her children gone, dead and buried.*

My heart grieves that familiar sound,

As tonight my baby girl lies in the ground...

"If the grief cry were simultaneously expressed by each parent who has lost a child at The Compassionate Friends Convention, I would imagine that such a collective wail would go up, that it would bring down the entire building."
