Truth #7 Child-Loss Grief is All-Pervasive.



Truth #7) Child-Loss Grief is pervasive and invasive, impacting every aspect of your being. Child-Loss Grief is multi-dimensional, affecting your body, soul, mind, heart, and spirit. Your beliefs about God, how He works, and about how the world works will all be challenged.


Child-Loss Grief is pervasive into your entire person. Therefore, it is multi-dimensional, affecting your

  • body
  • soul
  • mind
  • heart
  • spirit

Since each of these aspects of our grief is so important and so demanding, each in its own way, we thought we would take a look at each dimension listed, one at a time over the course of the next few weeks.

Somehow the pervasiveness of child-loss grief's impact has the effect on each of us such that

WE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME PERSONS WE ONCE WERE.

When we first heard this statement pronounced at a Compassionate Friends (group of child-loss grievers) meeting, it seemed like such a facile proclamation. We also read the same conclusion over and over in our grief books. How could grief have such a profound impact on one's life? Neither Tommy nor I could believe that grief would have such an overwhelming dismantling effect on our lives; we just couldn't fathom it.

But now, we are watching such a huge transformation in our personal world that we are finding out the hard way that this simple statement is indeed true. And the next hard thing about that realization is that we have to learn to accept that bewildering reality as one that is our own...
